Web Access to Mail
Faculty and staff who have not yet migrated their mail to Google can can use our web-based mail client.  Login to UMS webmail.
All others (students, retirees, etc.) can check their @Maine.edu email from their browsers here: http://gmail.maine.edu.

UMS User Account Management
@Maine.edu email uses your UMS user account.  Your UMS user account is also used for other system-wide technology services such as Blackboard and Maine Street.
NOTE: Beginnining on Tuesday, September 27, accounts with usernames that start with "sp" followed by a seven-digit number (usernames that look like "sp0987654" for example) will be programmatically renamed. All who are actively using an account of this type are encouraged to use the self-service account rename facility to choose a new username and perform the rename in that manner. It is noted that if they are using Blackboard, the rename process may take a few hours to complete. Those in need of assistance in this operation should contact their local campus IT helpdesk.

Using an Email Client to Connect
The UMS email system supports connections from most email clients.  See our Mail Client Configuration Instructions for details. If your mail has been migrated to Google Apps, See these Mail Client Configuration Instructions (Thunderbird only at this time).

Google Apps for Students Information

UMS Student Email is now hosted by Google!
During the summer of 2009, all UMS student email accounts were migrated from the Horde/IMAP system to Google Apps. More information (updated May 8, 2009).

If you would like to have your account migrated to Google Apps now, you use the self-service MigrateToGoogle application (click here), or by contacting the ITS help desk by e-mail at support@maine.edu or by phone at 561-3587.
